Get Ready for 8K and HDR Television

A warning : this post isn’t about the typical travel blogger stuff.  No street food, no temples, no culture shock.  It’s more about an experience to appease my inner geek.

I have seen the future, and it will be televised – in both 8K and HDR.

On Wednesday, I attended InterBEE – Asia’s biggest annual trade show catering to the broadcast and media production industries.   It was a little weird being (probably) the only travel blogger among a sea of TV and film professionals, but it was an awesome opportunity to geek out and see some of the newest technologies which are going to be going to market – including two big technologies which had everyone drooling.

Celebrities!  Glamour!  Films!  On Thursday, October 22, the 28th Tokyo International Film Festival got underway at the TOHO Cinemas location in Roppongi Hills – and I had a chance to check it out from (near) the red carpet!  For my gallery of photos, check out my Facebook page.

Using Your Mobile Phone in Japan

It was a trip to London and Paris in 2012 which solidified my opinion on the importance of having access to mobile data while travelling.

While the City of Light is beautiful and I was able to check out all the major tourist attractions with ease using a paper map, something was missing from my visit.  I felt like I was sticking to the well-worn path, rather than being adventurous in exploring side streets and hidden gems around the city.  It wasn’t until I went to London on the second half of that trip when I found the missing piece of the puzzle.
