Using Your Mobile Phone in Japan

It was a trip to London and Paris in 2012 which solidified my opinion on the importance of having access to mobile data while travelling.

While the City of Light is beautiful and I was able to check out all the major tourist attractions with ease using a paper map, something was missing from my visit.  I felt like I was sticking to the well-worn path, rather than being adventurous in exploring side streets and hidden gems around the city.  It wasn’t until I went to London on the second half of that trip when I found the missing piece of the puzzle.

Tokyo is Yours

Big (But Different) in Japan

Being a Canadian, I know so much time is spent back home on the national conversation of who we are as a people and what we’re all about.  Defining our culture is so tough because we are an amalgamation of people from so many different places, sitting right next door to an economic and cultural superpower – the United States.

The Japanese – on the other hand – know exactly who they are as a people.  Visit the National Museum in Tokyo, and you don’t have to look far for evidence of a culture which pre-dates current era, with traditions that span thousands, not hundreds or tens of years.
